ViewsML Appoints Digital Pathology Executive Michael Rivers to Board of Directors

Rivers brings more than 20 years of experience commercializing diagnostic and digital pathology technologies to support ViewsML’s continued growth and innovation

Vancouver, BC —September 29, 2026— ViewsML, a leader in AI-powered virtual biomarker staining, today announced the appointment of Michael Rivers to its Board of Directors. Rivers brings more than 20 years of experience leading the commercialization of global diagnostic and digital pathology portfolios, including experience advancing AI-enabled technologies from development through regulatory clearance and market adoption.

Most recently, Rivers served as Vice President and Lifecycle Leader at Roche Diagnostics, where he held full P&L responsibility for the Digital Pathology business and established a global strategy designed to accelerate growth and investment in the business. During his tenure, he led complex, cross-functional teams spanning R&D, manufacturing, and marketing, and oversaw the commercialization of a broad portfolio of digital pathology solutions, including whole slide imaging, enterprise software, and AI-based analysis algorithms. Rivers led initiatives that delivered sustained high double-digit annual revenue growth and resulted in multi-year agreements with leading pharmaceutical companies for novel companion diagnostic algorithms.

“Michael’s deep expertise across digital pathology, diagnostics, commercialization, and regulatory strategy makes him an exceptional addition to the Board,” said Kenneth To, CEO of ViewsML. “As ViewsML continues to advance the adoption of AI-powered virtual biomarker staining, his experience bringing innovative digital pathology technologies to market will be invaluable. We look forward to his strategic guidance as we expand the reach and impact of our technology.”

Rivers has extensive experience navigating the regulatory landscape for digital pathology and AI. He successfully drove FDA clearance for end-to-end digital pathology solutions and was instrumental in securing the first FDA Breakthrough Device Designation for a computational pathology AI algorithm for companion diagnostics.

“ViewsML is addressing an important challenge in pathology by enabling researchers and pathologists to extract biomarker insights from existing H&E slides without requiring additional tissue or traditional IHC staining,” said Michael Rivers. “I’m excited to join the Board at this stage of the company’s development and contribute to its mission of advancing computational pathology and expanding the potential of AI in diagnostics and research.”

Rivers is also actively involved in advancing the digital pathology field. He is a past president and current board member of the Digital Pathology Association (DPA) and currently serves as president of the DPA Foundation, where he works with industry stakeholders and regulatory organizations to support the continued development of the field.
